When security concerns in Iraq reached unprecedented levels, such stories were not uncommon among academics, as the campaign to dismantle Iraq’s intellectual heritage raged.

Allan Goodman, President and CEO of the Institute of International Education was recently interviewed on camera by South-South News, a digital media platform that publishes news on major international efforts in sustainable economic and social development to audiences around the world with a goal of advancing the implementation of the Millennium Development Goals through the sharing of best practices. The interview highlights the work of IIE’s SRF Iraq Scholar Rescue Project, which to date has assisted over 270 scholars from Iraq. On September 18th, The Institute of International Education with closely 500 business, education, and government foundations and policy leaders recognized the 10th Anniversary of the Scholar Rescue Fund intended to help hundreds of scholars escape the dangerous situations in their home countries at New York’s Cipriani Wall Street.
