Deputy Executive Director, Sarah Willcox, traveled to Vilnius, Lithuania to participate in the Scholars-at-Risk network meeting and symposium, “Defending the University: Academic Freedom in Central and Eastern Europe” held at the European Humanities University. Alongside presentations by partner organizations in Europe and the UK, Sarah presented on SRF’s global efforts, the Iraq Scholar Rescue Project and the launch of the forthcoming SRF World Report. The site of the symposium, the European Humanities University, is a Belarusian university in exile that received SRF support in 2006 to continue its operations after being shut down by authorities in Belarus.
