Council for At-Risk Academics (Cara)
The Council for At-Risk Academics (Cara) partners with universities and research institutions to provide assistance to academics and scientists fleeing from discrimination, persecution, suffering, and violence in some of the world’s most dangerous places. ELITE-S Programme – Marie Skłodowska-Curie COFUND Action Fellowship
ELITE-S Fellowships are for experienced researchers of any nationality, seeking a prestigious career developing position. ELITE-S Fellows will be researchers who are technically strong in their own discipline, and capable of performing high-value, interdisciplinary research, complementing and supporting their peers. ELITE-S welcomes applications from candidates who have had career breaks, such as researchers at risk, and are looking to return to a research-based career, and from candidates who have had a non-traditional career path, including those who have built up research experience but who may not have gained a doctoral qualification.
This grant is for scholars 2-7 years beyond their PhD. This grant is intended to set up research groups, and can award up to 1.5 million euros for up to 5 years.

The Max Planck Institute for the Study of Societies (MPIfG) provides an attractive environment for postdoctoral researchers to pursue their own research projects within the scope of the Institute’s research program in the fields of political economy or economic sociology. Philipp Schwartz Intiative (PSI)
PSI helps researchers who have fled their countries continue their work at German universities and research institutions. Hosted by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, it is one of the most important new initiatives in Europe in terms of funding and supporting refugee researchers.
