The Beacon
The Beacon is the Institute of International Education’s Scholar Rescue Fund (IIE-SRF)’s newsletter that features program updates, the stories and achievements of IIE-SRF fellows and alumni, and highlights from IIE-SRF’s host institutions and other partners. - Medical parasitologist Dr. Irene Sumbele of Cameroon has been named the 2020 IIE-SRF Beau Biden Scholar. Through her IIE-SRF fellowship at Cornell University, Dr. Sumbele honors Beau’s legacy through her health education initiatives and research to prevent and manage infectious diseases.
